This Sunday the Chiefs get a game against everyone's favorite former Chief Larry Johnson and the Bengals. This is a game that on paper the Chiefs don't have a prayer in. But there is the old saying any given Sunday. The Chiefs the next couple of weeks can play spoiler to a couple of teams. Here's the game-plan for a Chiefs win. Most of them are givens.
STOP THE Run. The Bengals have a solid rushing attack leading the way is the once disgraced Cedric Benson. Benson has had a solid season and some good games against some pretty good teams. LJ will be backing him up and behind a good o-Line LJ can have as big of a game that he ever did. The Chiefs have to stop the Run MUCH better then a week ago to even be in the game. The Bengals are far better so if the Bengals get the run going its going to be hard for Chiefs fans to watch. Stopping the run is going to be a must for the Chiefs.
CONTAIN the air attack. If the Chiefs are able to get the Bengals ground game shut down then they will have to deal with Carson Palmer and his receivers. They don't have to shut this down completely but they have to contain it. They can not let the Bengals take shot after shot down the field.
On offense the Chiefs are going to have to control the ball. If Jamal Charles can keep his hot streak going then the Chiefs should be in the game. The O line has shown some signs of life the last few weeks and they are going to have to keep that going. The dropped passes are going to have to stop. They can not afford to give the ball to Cincy any more then what they will normally have the ball. They cant hurt themselves.
All of those are basically how you win any football games. The Bengals are a team that is still dealing with the loss of Chris Henry. You never no how a team is going to respond to that. They can either fall apart or its something that can bring them together and make them in some ways a better team then they were before. I would say by there game last week that they might be a team that comes together. They played a hot chargers team to a field goal game.
The Bengals on paper are the better team. But I don't think that they are that much better. They have a good chance at making the playoffs but their division is not as good as it was thought to be at the start of the season. With Pitts injuries they were able to probably steal at least 1 win. And the Ravens were thought to be better then they were. They are definitely beatable. The real key to this game might just be the kickers. If the Chiefs do play at there best And stay in the game it might be a game that is on the legs of the kicker. Hopefully that's the leg of Ryan Succop. GO CHIEFS!!!
