MOUNT OLIVE, Miss. -- The family and friends who grew up with native son Steve McNair didn't have to say goodbye to the ex-NFL quarterback by themselves Friday night. The tiny town of Mount Olive had plenty of company.

I always liked McNair. He would play hurt. Limping around. A passionate player, that wanted to win.

It was sad to learn of him passing away so soon. RIP

He was a great player-what a terrible end. Feel bad for his kids.

Yeah, I wouldn't wish that end of life on my worst enemy. Like you said: "...a great player"; one whose time was too short.
