I wanted to write about the good news that happened with the announcement of Romeo Crennel as the DC for the Chiefs, but recent happenings in Haiti made me rethink this position.
I know this is a football site, but sometimes monumental things occur that sometimes have to take precedence over the talk of a game. For me, the tragedy in Haiti is one of those issues.
I don't know, maybe it is me getting older, maybe it is me being a father, but something has changed. Oh, I am still the hard-nosed conservative I always have been, but I am not sure what kind of hard heart it would take to be oblivious of pictures like these:
http://www.vcstar.com/photos/galleries/ ... aftermath/I was part of a crew that was called out to clean up in the aftermath of the 1993 Northridge Earthquake in California. Maybe that is what has moved me through this. Whatever it was, I felt the need to do something. I would love to be able to get on a plane and go down there and help out. I hear a rumor that if you are a doctor or a nurse, you can get a free flight to Haiti, I would do it in a heartbeat if I had those types of skills.
Barring that, there are other things I can do. I used the following link:

Anyway, that is my soapbox for the week.
