Critics say the film perpetuates idea of white hero saving primitive natives.

...I say no, not really; not so much - no.

These groups are always there to read much more into the movie than needs to be read. They took offense with Jar-jar in Star Wars because there were no strong black characters in Star Wars, but yet Jar-jar spoke in ebonics.

I personally took offense to Jar-jar because he was a stupid character, not because he somehow represented blacks in some way.

I have not seen Avatar, and likely will not until it comes out on DVD, so I cannot speak to it personally.

I agree; clearly Jar-jar was meant to be comic relief. I have seen Avatar and my impressions are that it has fantastic special effects, the action is second to none which, to me, makes up for the tired old overdone "Safe mother earth from the evil machinery of capitalism" theme.

I guess these groups exist for that sect of the population completely devoid of any common sense.

Interestingly enough, the subject of race has once again reared its ugly head. I guess Rush Limbaugh made some comments and once again was criticized for being racist. I have read his comments, (I do not listen to him anymore) and while I thought they should not have been said, I do not believe they were racist, certainly no more racist than anything Harry Reid has ever said.

But again, no common sense here, and Rush is a good punching bag for those that want to find racism under every rock.

Oh without a doubt, another case of Don Quixote needing another wind mill to attack; another witch hunt for those whose only existence is to allow PC to run amok.
