With Today being Chirstmas I thought I would give Santa my wishes for the offseason for the Chiefs. Hopefuly I have been a good boy and can get at least some of them.
1. A good pass rusher. Tamba Hali has stepped his game up this season. He is showing why he was a 1st round pick. He cannot do it himself and outside of him there is very little pass rush the chiefs get. They need someone else to put pressure on the QB for their D to get any better. The secondary would benefit from it. Give a QB and receivers all day to throw and someone will get open. A pass rusher is something that is a desperate need for the chiefs. Who knows adding another guy who can sack the QB could open things up for Dorsey to start getting sacks as well. Its an important thing for the Chiefs to add.
2. O line help. The O line has jelled in the last few weeks but there is still room for improvement on that end of well. Waters is getting up there in age and they need to get a replacement for him. O line Help is probably the main thing that the Chiefs need on the offensive side of the ball. If the Chiefs get an o line like the one they had for years that spoiled us all they will instantly be a much better team. O line is a very important thing for the Chiefs to address this offseason.
3. WR help. The Chiefs lead the NFL in dropped passes. And they lead the NFL in that by a wide margin. Chris Chambers has been a great pick up for the chiefs. And they have D Bowe who can tear up a defense at any given time. But they need help. Bowe is double covered a lot and Chambers cannot do it himself. There is a need at WR that should be addressed. I would rather see a free agent pick up on that then a draft pick. Receivers have probably one of the highest bust rates in the NFL. QB is probably the only thing higher that turns out bust. But Receiver help would be a great help to this team.
4. Safety help. Mike Brown has not had a great season but he has been decent. But like many other positions he cannot do it himself. They need to add a safety that is a great tackler. The Chiefs have given up to many touchdowns because of missed tackles this season coasting them at least a couple of wins. Safeties are the last line of defense so they HAVE TO be able to tackle if you have any shot to be a good team.
5. TE help. With Tony G no longer wearing a Chiefs jersey the Chiefs job is to find a guy who can replace him. Not a job that anyone will probably ever do but hopefully they can find someone that comes close. Brad Cottom was showing some signs and hopefully he is truly becoming a solid TE. But they should find someone that can come in and compete for the job. Tony showed us all just how much having a great TE can help your offense. Hopefully we can get someone close to what he gave us over the season.
6. An OC. Todd Haley would be a much better coach if he could turn his attention to the whole team. Not just having to deal with the Offense most of the time. There are other things for coaches to do besides play calling. When the Offense is on the field that’s when the Coach should be going over any adjustments that needs to be made on D. There are some big names that are out there. But hopefully Haley gets a guy that can work well for his system no matter if that’s a big name or not. As long as they get the job done.
So Santa there’s my list. I no you just got off work but any help in any of these areas this offseason would be nice. After all, we all know that Santa is a Chiefs fan. GO CHIEFS!!!
